Bike Parking Classifications
Secure, dry, long-term bike parking and storage. Typically bike rooms, bike lockers, locking bike shelters and bike stations. To qualify, bike parking and bike storage facilities must include the below characteristics.
- Protection from weather including wind, rain and snow
- Two levels of protection from theft:
- A locked room, shelter, cage or enclosure with controlled access only for bike users
- Racks within the enclosure to which bikes may be secured using a standard lock
Short-term, covered parking providing reasonable protection from rain and snow. Typically bike racks under canopy style shelters or building overhangs.
Short-term, uncovered parking. Typically bike racks for visitors near a primary entrance to a building.
